Mission

The Electric Motor Technology Research Center (EMTRC) was established in 1999 to develop motor-related technologies and support the automation industry in Taiwan. In its role as a research organization, the EMTRC aims to: assist local or global companies in building their own expertise; develop technical collaboration with industry and other research institutes in Taiwan; strengthen the relationships with other international organizations.
In 2002, we set up a free e-Learning website to support engineers with easy access to information pertaining to motor technologies. This website serves as an effective platform for exchanging information and promoting collaboration amongst industries, research institutes and academic organizations. Since its establishment, more than 10,000 users have registered with the service; 70% of these have come from the industry in Taiwan. Additionally, this website also publishes a weekly industry periodical called Motor Express (ISSN: 1990-4266), which provides technical articles and up-to-date information about cutting-edge technologies.
In 2008, the EMTRC collaborated with the China Steel Corporation, a world leading steel manufacturer based in Taiwan, to further extend its research capacity and to enhance the development of the automation industry in Taiwan. Moreover, we have also developed partnerships with several professional organizations in Taiwan, such as Delta Electronics Inc., SUNON Industry Company, and Taiwan HITACHI Corporation, etc.
In addition to offering consulting services to Taiwan’s industries, the EMTRC has also been highly engaged in increasing its international involvement around the world. We have previously collaborated with the Darmstadt University of Technology in Germany and the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom to develop key technologies for electric machines and drives.
